Rather frowned upon, full of colors and above all full of flavors, the Lyon district of La Guillotière is the place of multicultural resistance in the social landscape of this city of gourmets.
Tea is a globalized product whose turbulent history of its distribution reflects the often not very clean recipes of merchant capitalism. Nevertheless, it has been adopted and reappropriated by various local and popular cultures. Everyone has made their own use based on their own cultures and taste preferences. Far from being a place of submission, popular cuisine is an act of cultural resistance and expression of everyone’s creativity.
Therefore the artistic and social challenge becomes to honor this cultural diversity and to offer a moment of hospitality towards the Other through the customs of each other.
No doubt that when this work is activated, it will be a question of sharing our customs, our stories and our tastes at each cup.
During the first edition, only five cultures have been honored but the project remains entirely scalable over the encounters and the appropriations of the district inhabitants.
Isn’t it exciting to taste the tradition of others?
