La Fabrique de Sol Vivant
(The Living Soil Factory)
wood, suspended gardeners and gardening tools
first version built in duet with Maxime Lamarche
Forge de l’Alliance, Pont-Salomon - 2021
La Fabrique de Sol Vivant takes the form of a gigantic rolling arch that serves as a tillage platform, a seed bank, a greenhouse, a spreading platform, and more.
The gardeners are suspended not from a salvation board but from a work board where their tools and seeds are hung.
Floating on their swings, they adapt to gardening tasks by changing their point of view on the ground, working from hand height to human height. Lying on their bellies, these gardeners are symptomatic of a sprawling generation that refuses to break their backs by hunkering down at work.
Here, they find themselves face to face with the ground, inhaling the humus of a renewed fertile land.
It is also a question of agree to reconnect with the long term as for a remediation of a soil does.
La Fabrique de Sol Vivant advances step by step to the rhythm of a one-man band that sets the pace. The positions are not fixed: the spirit is cooperative and everyone can change roles. Nature is our common to collectively florish.
Could art create a bridge with agriculture to design new cultural fields?
